The Central Library at IIIT Ranchi is a window to the world of the latest information in Engineering, Technology, Humanities, and Sciences. As an integral part of the academic and research ecosystem of the campus, the Library provides comprehensive information services to support the teaching, learning, research, and outreach activities of the Institute by creating state-of-the-art facilities and offering innovative services. It caters to the needs of undergraduate and postgraduate students, research scholars, faculty members, and staff across various departments and research facilities.
Central Library uses the Open-Source SoftwareKOHA for Library Automation and all housekeeping operations as well as services rendered to the users.
Students, Faculty members, Officers and staff of the Institute are required to enroll as members of the library upon joining the Institute by filling out the membership form available at the Library Circulation Desk, along with a passport-size photograph. Library membership entitles users to access the resources and services offered for academic and research purposes. An Institute Identity Card is mandatory for the issue and return of library materials.
All students, faculty members, officers and staff of the Institute are entitled to borrow library materials. Their borrowing entitlement, in terms of the number of items that may be issued, is as follows:
Users have to return the books within the stipulated period. A fine of 2 (two) rupees per day per bookwill be charged from the defaulting members.User(s) has to return all issued books when he/ she is out of station for more than fifteen days.
If a loaned book is not reserved by other users, the concerned user is allowed to renew it a maximum of three (3) consecutive times. Renewal can be done through the Library Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) (Currently accessed only within the BSNL campus through the Institute's Network) or with the assistance of library at the circulation counter. The Library reserves the right to recall any issued book at any time, if the need arises.
Each member has a privilege to reserve or hold a maximum of two books, if the same are borrowed by other user of the Central Library. The reservation of book(s) can be done through Library Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) (Currently accessed only within the BSNL campus through the Institute's Network) or with the help of library at the circulation counter.
